The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Major General Kahinda Otafiire has said that Kyadondo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine is only good at sloganeering which resonates with the poor people but can’t be trusted with power.
Otafiire noted that Bobi Wine has never been tested politically and there is need to weigh his strength before putting him on the ‘steering wheel’ of Uganda.
While appearing on NBS frontline, Otafiire said that Bobi Wine’s growing popularity day by day is not due to political arguments but because his music says truth to power and most especially touches down to Omuntu wa wansi adding that Bobi wine needs to be weighed before given power.
Otafiire said that when a country like Uganda is casting a vote for a leader, there is a need to think twice and this calls for someone who can hold a political argument. He also added that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) is still popular and this will be seen on the ballot paper in 2021 when the country goes for the general elections with or without rigging.
On the recent presidential appointments to influence voters in ghetto, Otafiire said that they are part of NRM’s strategy of reaching out to the strata of society adding that for years people living in the ghetto have been marginalized and called names by those that are educated and this country belongs to them which is not what NRM represents.
Denying the fact Bobi Wine’s emergence has forced President Museveni to go down to the Ghetto as a way of getting back to him, Otafiire said that NRM is a mass organization with a strategy of reaching out to all corners of the country and this has nothing to do with Bobi Wine or anyone in the opposition
