Social media is awash with congratulatory messages towards Bobi Wine from various parts of the world over having made it to the Times list of 100 Next most influential leaders.
Popstar turned Politician Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine has been listed among the 100 World’s Next Influential People.
Bobi Wine is popularly known for singing songs about social injustice until recently when he joined politics and promised that he would challenge Museveni in 2021 for the Presidential seat.
In a Facebook Post, Bobi Wine noted he was very honored to be named among the Time 100 Next Most Influential People adding that he was very delighted to share recognition with 99 other highly accomplished individuals who are shaping the future in the areas of business, entertainment, sports, politics, health, science and activism, and many more.
Bobi Wine dedicated this recognition to the Young People of Uganda especially the Ghetto Youth who have never stopped believing in him adding that this recognition should be a reminder and encouragement to the Youth “… you are not what your detractors say you are. You are what you choose to be”
In an emotional statement, he reminisced on his life and all the things he had gone through while growing that included selling radio cassettes on the streets of Kampala; collecting grasshoppers for survival; working as a dobbi (dry cleaner), and many more
“Now, making it to such a list! I can only return all the glory and praise to the Almighty and pay tribute to all those who have been part of this journey.” Said Bobi Wine
He further added that such recognition does not only call for celebration but it also calls for deep reflection. This can only strengthen our resolve to fight on, struggle on, soldier on- until freedom, human rights, and equal opportunity return to our country, and indeed our continent.
Bobi Wine is the Team Leader at the People Power Movement a movement led by entirely the Youth and promising to overthrow President Museveni come 2021 because there support is spreading like a wildfire across the Country.
